Our story begins at the very tip of the peninsula, where the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas meet: the ancient city of Knidos. In the 4th century BC, Knidos was not only a port city but also one of the most important centres of medicine, science and art of the period. The statue of Aphrodite by the famous sculptor Praxiteles stands here, and the observatory of the renowned astronomer and mathematician Eudoxus once watched the skies from this very spot.<\/p>\n
